Out From The Mist
Artists Bring Mental Health to the Forefront Through Art
Exhibition Dates: 11th September – 5th October, 2024
Venue: Gallery 48, 2/48 The Strand, North Ward
The Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA), in collaboration with Gallery 48, is proud to present Out From The Mist, an exhibition featuring digital artwork from twelve national and international artists. This unique event, running from 11th September until 5th October, offers a platform for these artists to express their support for mental health awareness through art. Several participating artists have generously pledged proceeds from sales to MIFA.
MIFA has been an advocate for those living with severe and complex mental illnesses for over 30 years. Their mission is to amplify the voices of those affected by mental health challenges.
This is the fourth year Gallery 48 has partnered with MIFA to showcase Out From The Mist, and the organisers are thrilled to provide a space where artists and supporters can come together for this important cause.
One of the featured pieces, The lights dim & I adjust to the dark, by Brisbane-based artist Becky_V_, offers a personal reflection on living with mental illness. In her words:

“Plagued with indecisiveness
How do I overcome this
Uncontrolled thoughts and insecurities
Not knowing what is real or what is an illusion
Dissecting words and scenarios
Imagining a false future
Reminiscing on the past
Not living in the present”
Visitors are invited to explore these powerful and thought-provoking works throughout the exhibition’s run. This is an opportunity to appreciate the creativity and resilience of artists dedicated to raising awareness for mental health.
